In April 2012 Egmont Publishing took the painful decision to close it’s in house magazine printer HMT in Oslo. The plant consisted of a state of the art large format AGFA CTP system, two Goss Sunday 32pp short grain presses, a complete FERAG inserting line and a host of ancillary items such as paper compactors, ink pumps, chilling systems, compressors, spare parts etc. Egmont’s preferred option was to sell the entire plant in one package deal to minimise disruption to its employees and allow the management to oversee the whole process in a controlled manner.
It was JanusTech who rose to this challenge and completed the sale of the equipment for Egmont.
JanusTech introduced and negotiated the sale of the entire plant to Saudi Printing and Packaging Company (SPPC) in Saudi Arabia. Owned by HRH Prince Faisal Bin Abdulaziz, SPPC is the largest printing company in Saudi Arabia with over 600 employees. SPPC constructed a new facility at their site in Jeddah to house all the new equipment.
The whole process from initial discussions to signing of contracts took just 10 weeks.
Following the completion of the new facility in Jeddah, SPPC appointed their own contractors who subsequently carried out the shipping installation and commissioning of the equipment in Saudi.
